La FirmaThe Signature

Emirates Developments and Missoni, the celebrated Italian fashion house, come together for the first Missoni address in Abu Dhabi. Two names with a shared conviction: that a signature worth wearing is worth building into.

“Colour and material are the elements essential to my craft.”

Ottavio Missoni

Emirates Developments builds it. Missoni specifies the colour, the material and the pattern. The zigzag in the podium cladding is the same mark the house has put on glass, tile and knit for seventy-three years.

The House

Founded 1953. Recognised Without a Label.

Missoni was founded in 1953 in Gallarate, a small city in northern Italy. Ottavio, an Olympic athlete, and Rosita, from a family of textile artisans, began with a single idea: that colour was not decoration but structure, and pattern not surface but philosophy.

Seven decades later, the house they built is one of the few in the world whose design language is recognisable without a name attached to it. The chevron, the zigzag, the layered knit. These are not motifs Missoni uses. They are Missoni.

The Signature

From Textile to Structure

Missoni Home launched in 1983, and for over forty years the house has been translating its language into rooms rather than garments. On its residential projects Missoni works alongside the architect from the start, so that colour, material and pattern are settled with the building rather than chosen after it.

The zigzag, the house’s most enduring mark, appears in the podium cladding and returns through the tower’s mid-section, worked into the building’s skin rather than applied as a finish.

Inside each residence, Missoni’s interior design carries the same colour logic, material choices, and pattern language through the living spaces. The signature runs all the way through.

Architecture

A Sculpted Form on the Waterfront

The tower rises as a single oval form wrapped in continuous horizontal fins, giving it a textile quality from every angle. Planted balconies break the banding at each floor, and the zigzag returns through the mid-section.

At its base the podium curves away from the tower behind a facade of three-dimensional zigzag cladding, deep enough to hold its own shadow through the day. The building takes a position few can claim: water on two sides, direct beach access at its base, and views in four directions.
